The Historic Preservation Commission is a seven-member advisory commission responsible for making recommendations to the city council regarding the preservation of landmarks and historic districts within the city. The Commission is also responsible for surveying and maintaining an inventory of significant historic, architectural, and cultural landmarks and properties located in historic districts.
Commission members are appointed by the City Council at-large and preference is given to applicants that have an interest in the historic traditions of the City, and experience in the preservation of the historical character of the City. Specifically, the City Council seeks applicants from the following categories professions and interests: Architecture, History, Real Estate, Attorney at Law, Historic Landmark Property Owner, Archaeology, Geography, Anthropology, Planning & Zoning Commission member. The City Council shall also appoint a Historic Preservation officer that shall advise the Commission on historic preservation activities. The Commission meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at City Hall - 511 Mercer Street, Dripping Springs, Texas. Residents and the public are welcome and encouraged to attend meetings. Please see the City Calendar for meeting dates and times.

THE CITY OF DRIPPING SPRINGS, TEXAS, ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 15.57 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000.00 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $20.00
